BRAVO award winners for

Best Brunch Brighton

BRUNCH in Brighton |  Winners 2024

If you’re into brunch, and let’s be honest most of us are, then you’re probably pretty interested in finding out about the very best brunch Brighton has to offer. We’re absolute suckers for cafe culture in Brighton, loving an alfresco terrace on a sunny day, dog-friendly venues to entertain our precious pooches, the pseudo-wholesome promise of a brunch dish, a picture-perfect cortado and the opportunity to picture ourselves in Sydney or maybe L.A. Luckily, we’re absolutely spoiled for choice – let the imagination run wild!

All across the city, Brighton coffee shops and Hove cafes push the boat out on our behalf, creating egg-based fantasies, stacks of fluffy pancakes, loaded waffles, fruity granola bowls and more. Such a mystery though that drag-star hosted and prosecco-fuelled bottomless brunches are also so popular here ; )…

And the winner of the BRAVO for Best Brunch goes to – Oeuf Cafe. Huge congratulations to the team.

First place

Winner of this year’s BRAVO for Best Brunch, Oeuf Café is a dream. When you walk through the pretty painted doors, you enter a world of Parisian-style chic where the imaginative menu takes centre stage. A selection of dishes featuring poached eggs – cooked to perfection of course – are topped with delicious flavour combinations; fresh crab, smoked trout, spicy chorizo or spinach, all served on crunchy, fresh sourdough. Oeuf’s special FrumpetsTM are an absolute crowd pleaser, as are the plates of syrup-drizzled pancakes, Full English and Vegan breakfasts and so much more. There are luxurious coffees, artisanal teas and delicious cocktails to enjoy if the mood takes you. Oeuf is all the more impressive given owner Amber Sterck’s firm commitment to sustainability. A brunch-time fantasy on Third Avenue in lovely Hove.

Oeuf has also placed in the Best Cafe, Best Team and Most Sustainable categories.

Second place

Loyal customers and visitors to Brighton queue in bad weather for brunch at this independent, kid-friendly eatery near Brighton’s North Laine. So it’s no surprise to find this fabulous family-run cafe coming in at #2 Best Brunch this year. Serving generous portions of delicious brunch classics, stacks of fluffy pancakes and flavourful international dishes, there is something to please even the most demanding ‘bruncher’. Moksha’s hash browns are so famously good that they’re offered with a money-back guarantee. Top-notch baristas will serve you house-blended coffee or, if the mood takes you, invite you to try one of their fabulous cocktails. Yes please!

Moksha has also placed in the Best Team, Best For The Family, Most Sustainable and Best Cafe categories.

Third place | Brunch Brighton

With its lofty, hilltop position in Queen’s Park, this lovely light flooded Brighton cafe has a serious reputation for quality with Italian fine dining chef Laura Karall cooking up a storm in the kitchen and former Radio DJ Tony Marks at the helm. Aficionados stream in from across the city, braving the inevitable Hanover climb, to enjoy the delicious seasonal specials, avocado smash, perfect eggs and delicious pastries. The coffee is faultless and stunning ‘brunchified’ cocktails make a welcome addition to the menu. Making the top three for this BRAVO category with comforting inevitability, Starfish and Coffee #BrunchLikeABoss so you can too!

Starfish and Coffee has also placed in the Best Cafe and Best Team categories.

Brunch in Brighton is served between 10am and 2pm. Brighton coffee shops open earlier between 7am and 8am where breakfast could be served. You may also like to look at our Brighton and Hove lunch guide as this overlaps with brunch. Guy Beringer created the idea of brunch in 1895. In an article written in a London publication called Hunter’s Weekly titled “Brunch: A Plea,” there is a suggestion for a different meal time to accommodate those enjoying a Saturday night. Brunch would be for those who cannot make it up in time for breakfast because of their late night social engagements.

What is a bottomless brunch? It is a relatively new concept where one can enjoy a brunch at a set price where you have a number of set courses with free flowing, or unlimited alcohol. There is usually a time limit allocated to a bottomless brunch and alcohol options could be sparkling wine, beer, or cocktails. This type of brunch is popular for birthdays, special occasions, a friends get together or a hen do.  The bottomless brunch concept is popular in Brighton.
