Central, stylish and boasting the best tropical fish tank in town, Merkaba at My Brighton Hotel have claimed the top place to drink! From old classics to a flaming cocktail masterclass (literally) Merkaba have always been a popular haunt for those after a good quality drink in classy surroundings and the public certainly agrees… cheers!
2. The Watchmaker’s Arms (Joint second)
Brighton’s one and only micropub, The Watchmaker’s Arms near Hove Station has grown a cult following for those who like their beer (never lager) enjoyed with no modern distractions such as TV or fruit machines. A one room venue, the friendly welcome you’ll receive from Ali, Ruth and the team will make you feel like you’re having a drink in a friend’s living room – an almost extinct atmosphere in a city pub.
The Basketmakers came in joint second, great news for this popular 19th Century pub who draw in plenty of loyal regulars. In the summer you’ll see drinkers spilling out onto the sunny street, creating a carnival atmosphere, and in winter people huddle together amongst the cosy decor. The Basketmakers boasts Master Cellarman status and stock over 100 different types of whisky – bottoms up!
3. The Joker
Since opening in 2014, The Joker has established itself as a firm favourite with the residents of Preston Park and London Road area, with plenty of after work drinking action going on most evenings. Home to the Orange Buffalo (winner of our Best Pub Grub category) it’s the perfect spot to hang out, sample a selection of their craft beer and maybe partake in a basket of NY style chicken wings…
