Super Simple Homemade Houmous

Super Simple Homemade Houmous

The youngest member of the Restaurants Brighton team shows us this super simple recipe for homemade houmous (a skill that every Brighton five-year-old should acquire!)

It’s quick, easy and so delicious, using ingredients you’re likely to already have at home. Why not try Ivanka’s simple bread recipe to enjoy with your homemade houmous?

Ingredients you will need:

  • 1 x 400g can of chickpeas, drained (keep the water)
  • 3 x tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 x tbsp tahini
  • 2-3 tbsp water (you can use the chickpea water from the can)
  • 1 x lemon squeezed
  • Cumin to taste (1/2 -1 teaspoon)
  • Salt to taste

Blend all ingredients together and you have yourself some delicious, homemade houmous – it’s that easy!

Top tip: if you find the raw garlic a bit too pungent for your taste you can keep the same amount (because it’s super good for you) but blitz it with the lemon juice and leave sit for 5 minutes before blending in the other ingredients.
