Getting started<\/h2>\n

Hello and welcome to the first edition of our weeknotes for the Restaurant Sustainability Toolkit project. I wrote about it in last week\u2019s post for Earth Day and am happy to report that things are moving forward<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As this is the first project of this kind that Restaurants Brighton is partnering on, I have decided to borrow from my experiences working on open source and government projects, and publish public weeknotes<\/a>. My hope is that publishing our progress as well as the challenges we encounter will help keep us accountable as well as giving people who are interested in the progress of the project an opportunity to keep informed and to ask questions.<\/p>\n

In the last week most of us managed to meet for the first time with only Hannah and Jude unable to attend due to prior commitments. Our first challenge is to find a time we can all meet each week and, given that two of our University partners have teaching commitments we have opted to work around their timetable and aim for a weekly meeting on a Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

We reviewed our key dates and deliverables and have discussed publishing at least 4 case studies by the end of May so Hannah, Jude and Francisca will meet next week to focus on planning that out.<\/p>\n

My commitment is to look at an overall project plan which will mean that we can deliver all 8 of the initial case studies as well as a checklist and evaluate their effectiveness and engagement by the end of July.<\/p>\n

As a team we need to answer some questions about how we might understand a baseline for a venue in terms of their sustainability and we are considering whether the checklist itself could form part of that.<\/p>\n

Next week we are going to start contacting venues to invite their participation, make a more detailed plan for producing case studies and hope to have pencilled in a date for the round table with our wider stakeholders.<\/p>\n
