{"id":18078,"date":"2025-10-28T13:57:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T13:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/restaurantsbrighton.co.uk\/jobs\/?p=18078"},"modified":"2026-01-26T11:20:03","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T11:20:03","slug":"sustainability-workshop-climate-and-nature-friendly-plates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/restaurantsbrighton.co.uk\/jobs\/blog\/sustainability-workshop-climate-and-nature-friendly-plates\/","title":{"rendered":"You&#8217;re invited to the next Sustainability Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Climate and Nature Friendly Plates<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Building on the progress made with the <a href=\"https:\/\/restaurantsbrighton.co.uk\/sustainability-toolkit\/\">Sustainability Toolkit<\/a>, the next step is to explore a new initiative proposed by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bhfood.org.uk\/\">Brighton &amp; Hove Food Partnership (BHFP)<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, first discussed at the <a href=\"https:\/\/restaurantsbrighton.co.uk\/jobs\/blog\/the-sustainability-toolkits-debut-workshop\/\">July 2024 Round Table<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The project would see restaurants, pubs and caf\u00e9s across Brighton, Hove and Sussex add one Climate and Nature Friendly Plate to their menu; a dish designed to taste the season, respect the planet and support the community. The campaign aims to launch in January 2026 with public-facing marketing and support materials for participating venues.<\/p>\n<p>To make sure the guidelines for what counts as a Climate and Nature Friendly Plate are clear, practical and achievable, BHFP are inviting feedback from chefs and venue owners at this upcoming workshop.<\/p>\n<p>Together, we\u2019ll discuss:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">what elements could be implemented immediately (or are already happening)<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">what might need adjusting<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">what feels most challenging<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">and whether anything important is missing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The proposed guidelines encourage approaches such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">making plants the star of the plate<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">using local, seasonal and fresh ingredients<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">sourcing less and better animal protein<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">minimising waste and protecting biodiversity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The aim is to refine and finalise these guidelines so they work in the real world, in busy kitchens and on live menus, before the campaign launches.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re a chef, restaurant owner or hospitality professional who\u2019d like to contribute, join us at <a href=\"https:\/\/tottingtonmanor.co.uk\/dine-with-us.shtml\">Terra, Tottington Manor<\/a> on Wednesday 19 November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Climate and Nature Friendly Plates Building on the progress made with the Sustainability Toolkit, the next step is to explore a new initiative proposed by the Brighton &amp; Hove Food Partnership (BHFP), first discussed at the July 2024 Round Table.
