We’re looking for a confident, enthusiastic Brunch Chef to join the Roost team, and offering a competitive hourly rate. Some kitchen experience would be preferred, but it’s definitely not a deal breaker.

Training can be provided – what’s most important to us is someone who’s confident in the kitchen, has a genuine passion for food and is keen to get stuck in.

This Role Includes

Due to the growing popularity of Roost Café at Goddenwick Farm, we’re looking for another talented Brunch and Lunch Chef to join our expanding kitchen team.

We’re continuing to develop our menu and want to take our brunch and lunch offering to the next level, combining creative, modern dishes such as Turkish eggs and shakshuka with café favourites done properly, including full English breakfasts, stacked pancakes and hearty seasonal lunch options.

You’ll work closely with our Café Managers and the rest of the kitchen team to deliver consistently high-quality food and ensure service runs smoothly and efficiently.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to contribute your own ideas, help develop new dishes and influence our seasonal menus. We’re looking for someone creative, reliable and enthusiastic who enjoys working as part of a friendly, growing team.

You’ll be working alongside our Café Managers, who will have the creative input into the menu direction, and you’ll be leading on creating the kitchen processes and systems required to deliver it. This means you’ll take ownership of how the food gets out – making sure service runs smoothly and efficiently. You’ll have the opportunity to help shape and influence the menu, bringing your own ideas and creativity into our seasonal offering.

Wage: £13 – £14

About the role:

Likely hours: 7:30 am – 3.30/ 4:30 pm (to be confirmed)
We’re open every day – ideally 4 days per week for this role, weekend availability is essential with another chef covering the remaining two days.
Based in the heart of the Sussex countryside at our busy farm café.
High-volume kitchen – you’ll need to keep quality consistent while the orders are flying in.
About you:

Previous experience working in a professional kitchen (essential)
Experience with food hygiene standards and procedures (essential)
Passionate foodie with a flair for creative brunch dishes
Skilled in both modern café plates and high-quality breakfast staples
Comfortable in a busy kitchen environment
Organised, calm under pressure, and a great communicator
Collaborative, with a positive, can-do attitude
