Located just off Church Road in Hove, Hove Place has an excellent reputation for great food, great beer and an unrivalled beer garden.

The pub is at it liveliest in pleasant weather when the gardens are in full swing but still has a good trade throughout the year, particularly off the back of our customers looking for excellent pub bistro dishes in a warm, welcoming environment.

Part of a local, family-run pub company – the Golden Lion Group – Hove Place has a steady following of residents and a bit of something for everyone. It’s just off the main Hove circuit so still does well with ‘drinkers’ during the evening which compliments the atmosphere for those looking for a quality yet casual dining experience in a pub setting.

This Role Includes

We work by encouraging autonomy and accountability. We want our GM’s (or Managing Partners – we’ll discuss that option further at interview) to put their own stamp on and personality into the site. We love it when own teams really take ‘ownership’ alongside the support and guidance that comes from the operations team. The company operates six other sites within the Brighton & Hove area so there is always plenty of support on hand!

The Candidate

If you are outgoing, energetic, organised, business minded and have great attention to detail, then perhaps one of the city’s best pubs is an ideal place for you to work.

We are keen for our GMs to spend as much time with the customers and their team as possible.

We do a lot of work behind the scenes to keep the admin side of things to a minimum and offer plenty of support to allow our team members and most importantly the management team to be hands-on and ‘customer facing’.

If it’s being out there ‘front of house’ that you enjoy most then this role could be ideal for you.

Quality food and the service associated with it is at heart of what Hove Place does best and as such a good level of experience and understanding in this field will be essential for the successful candidate.

 

Skills Required

·Creativity & good communication skills

·Controlling the wet GPs of the business through excellent stock control

·Previous experience in good quality food service venue and good career stability. Job hoppers need not apply!!

·Excellent work ethic, ambitious and standards driven

·Working knowledge of labour control

·Responsible for driving sales within the bar, through developing new promotions and championing existing promotions

·People focused – getting the best out of your team and enabling the delivery of exceptional customer service

·Recruiting, training and developing your team to achieve their personal best

·Time management/organisational skills

·Strong leadership qualities to include emotional intelligence, calmness and consistency

Additional Information

Package

  • £35,000 -£40,000 dependent upon experience.
  • Note; there is no manager’s accommodation available with this position.
  • The opportunity to run your own business and to benefit directly from the success you make of the pub is a further option that will be discussed at interview. This can potentially lead to a significant increase in remuneration.
