Overview
The Sussex Ox is recruiting for a high calibre sous chef position, to join their team on a permanent basis. They are a gastro pub in the beautiful countryside setting of Milton Street, just outside the picturesque village of Alfriston, with good access to the A27.
The pub is family owned by local farmers and managed by their nephew, Jonny. The head chef is Austin who has a strong background in AA Rosette cookery across hotels, pubs and restaurants along the south coast.
The Sussex Ox brings with it something very special in its procurement of ingredients. With a direct link to their own farm only two miles away, they are able to obtain purebred, hand-reared Sussex beef and lamb straight to the pub. The farm is organic, ethical and sustainable, and The Sussex Ox is able to bring a whole new level of provenance in regards to the core ingredients we use in the pub kitchen.
This Role Includes
The right candidate will be passionate about locally sourced, fresh, and sustainable food, with a focus on nose to tail cookery. They will be able to come up with new and exciting ideas for dishes and work closely with Austen to manage the monthly changing menu. A successful candidate will have experience in a busy and successful kitchen.
