You won the BRAVO Best Cafe in 2023. How did this feel and what impact did it have on your business?
It was a huge accolade to have won this award after being open for such a short period of time, especially opening mid pandemic, being recognised for all of the hard work that the team has put in since opening, made us feel like the hard work was really worthwhile!
It has put us even stronger on the map than before.
How would you describe your business to someone who hasn’t been before?
Oeuf is a pastel coloured dreamy Hove café for those wanting a candlelit breakfast over some Etta James playing in the background.
Which dishes are your customers enjoying at the moment and could you describe the dishes?
Frumpets™… always! Juicy, loaded and over the top ( as is everything we cook here) the current and front winner is still our ‘Melt in the middle cheese and chive Frumpet’
Share a whistle-stop tour of your career?
Running restaurants across London and Brighton, hospitality has always been at the forefront of my career, from chains to independents, taking the best bits from each and amalgamating it into Oeuf!
Is this the career that you planned for when you were younger?
Since day one really! From pretty much the age of 4.
After visiting a cafe in Clapham where I lived as a child, I had the most delicious hot chocolate known to man, I knew the delight that I got from such a simple, yet delightful hot drink meant that I was destined to create more tasty creations and share the joy of food with others.
Oeuf’s favourite review or accolade and why?
Winning best Café in the Bravos for sure!
But in terms of online reviews…
”This place is amazing, the staff were so kind and helpful, one waitress even gave her own suncream for our baby. The food was honestly the best breakfast I’ve ever eaten in my life, the chicken waffles are INSANE and so is the lobster French toast crumpets. Drinks were also really tasty and even though they were full it all came out quickly. I am so impressed me and my partner legitimately considered moving to Hove (we are on holiday) haha’’
Which Brighton restaurant is your favourite?
My all time firm favourite has always been Plateau, sitting at the bar and enjoying the house wine over an oyster… perfection!
Where would you like to go and eat next?
I am really excited to try Anakuma, based on Preston Street, that is definitely on my hit list next.
