Minnie George sales and Marketing

Meet Minnie George from The Permit Room

Please can you share a whistle-stop tour of your career?

Embarked on my career in hospitality in Brighton post-university, in various roles, including managing bars such as the beloved Spiegeltent pre-COVID.

Joined Black Rock, contributing to the opening of new restaurant Burnt Orange in 2021, began as front of house, which lead up to reservations manager.

I transitioned to the role of Marketing Executive for all Black Rock sites after a brief travel period. Spent over a year in Black Rock’s head office before beginning my current role as Marketing Manager for Permit Room in Brighton and Dishoom in London.

Though still at the early stages of my journey, I’m eagerly anticipating the exciting opportunities that lie ahead!

Favourite aspect of the job?

I absolutely love the diversity of people I get to meet in my job.

The social aspect of marketing is really exciting for me because it allows me to engage with individuals from various backgrounds. I’m genuinely fascinated by hearing everyone’s unique stories and learning more about a wide spectrum of people. Being naturally sociable, I thoroughly enjoy striking up conversations and connecting with others.

What excites you most about your role?

The constant evolution and creative challenges in my role excite me the most.

Every day offers a chance to make a meaningful impact, which can be really fulfilling.

What advice would you offer for women looking to embark on a similar career?

For women aspiring to a similar career to mine, my advice would be that confidence is always key, try to build a strong network through connections and people you’ve met through the years, stay updated with local events, and view challenges as opportunities for growth.

Maintain a healthy work-life balance, promote diversity in the workplace, and always remember that your unique perspective and skills contribute significantly to the fabulousness of the industry!

And because it’s BRAVO time. Can you tell us who you’ll be voting for in three categories that don’t include your venue?

Best Pub- Hop poles.

The garden area is super cute, it’s open late, and the staff are DELIGHTFUL!

Best Roast – The Better Half

Off the scale good!

Best Eat Well for Less – Bincho Yakitori

No brainer!
