Meet Pete Morrison from Jo & Co

We sit down with Pete Morrison who is the joint owner of Jo and Co in Hove.

Jo and Co is a beloved restaurant in Hove where visiting diners are treated like family, and their all-day menu keeps their guests coming back for more.

We discover Pete’s  view on customer service, their ethos in using local Sussex produce and we discover the fun to be had during the BRAVO Awards.

More about Jo & Co.

You can begin your day with their fabulous brunch dishes, then transition seamlessly into lunch service starting from 12pm. For those looking to dine in the evening, Jo and Co extends its hours until 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays, welcoming guests to indulge in delightful dinner offerings. With a diverse menu and extended hours on select days, Jo and Co ensures that every dining experience is memorable and satisfying.

The 3 most important things when it comes to the customer experience?

  • To be welcomed as part of the Jo & Co Family.
  • To enjoy super delicious good quality food.
  • A really great time at a reasonable price.

You have an entertaining appeal on your Instagram, especially for the BRAVO Awards, tell us more?

We always have something up our sleeve for the BRAVO awards but that would be telling!

Our Instagram is about our food and our venue but also about us and our journey – our highs and lows and all the fun we have with our team.

Which dishes are the customers enjoying?

Oh so many!

Brunch wise our Shakshuka and Spicy Veggie Cornbread are bespoke to us super popular and of course delicious.

On top of that our lunch and evening dishes are homemade onsite, soups, baked brie, vegan crispy cauliflower and gorgeous Fish pie, Beef Bourguignon pie and house made marinade bangin chicken, plus of course great value steak.

Favourite Sussex Supplier(s) or brands and why?

We totally love the local suppliers we have worked with since the start, Jo still goes weekly to Mac’s farm in Ditchling to pick up the best free range organic eggs you can buy.

Our bread is made locally by The Flour Pot, our sausages and bacon are all free range and organic from the Brighton Sausage company and our ice cream is made in Shoreham.

We continually get comments on the superb quality of our ingredients and produce – these few our just a few of our favourites!

What has been your biggest challenge?

Leaving the pandemic aside, the hugest challenge for all restaurant operators in recent years has been rising costs from every side of the business, costs that we can never pass on to our customers and still finding ways of remaining competitive.

Why do you enjoy the BRAVO Awards?

The BRAVO awards are a great opportunity for the diverse independent hospitality businesses of Brighton and Hove to come together with their customers and showcase their popularity, personality and expertise at what they all do.

Most of all it’s all super competitive at the same time as being hugely fun and motivating for our team.
