Why you’ll love Open Bakery Cookery School:
From crusty sourdough to buttery pastries and elegant patisserie, the Open Bakery Cookery School is where Brighton’s love of baking comes to life. Whether you’re kneading your first loaf or fine-tuning your croissant lamination, every class offers the chance to roll up your sleeves, learn new skills and take home something delicious. With small groups led by Open Bakery’s incredible baking team or a very special guest baker, the classes are the perfect mix of hands-on learning and relaxed fun. Open Bakery’s fabulous selection of baking classes in Brighton is some of the best available in the city.
When not occupied for classes, the cookery school is a hive of activity, housing the savoury kitchen and Jo’s kitchen sections, where the team make biscuits, jams, granolas and the multiple treats to supply both the main shop and cafe.
Lets Bake Bread…and more
Open Bakery’s cookery school is a natural extension of their much-loved bakery shop just down the street on St George’s Road. Once the bakers have baked and stocked the shop for the day, they host classes for you to learn the skills. From foundational bread-making to patisserie favourites like macarons, eclairs or savoury bakes, there’s something for every interest and skill level. Special guest teachers, close collaborators and local food experts bring fresh techniques and flavours to the lineup, including local legend Jürgen from The Great British Bake Off who knows a thing or two about pretzels amongst other German influenced bakes.
Supper Clubs Too
There’s more to Open Bakery than mixing dough and folding pastry. Their cookery school transforms into a warm, welcoming space for seasonal supper clubs – hands-on, communal evenings where you cook, learn, and eat together. As well as the food you eat, it’s such a fabulous space to spend an evening in with their communal and comfortable table at the back of the kitchen to gather and feast.

RB Loves:
One of our favourites has to be Pasta night. You’ll start with antipasti and prosecco, then top and bake your own focaccia before diving into making fresh pasta with an expert chef, alongside your kitchen-mates. After you make, you eat together with a lovely glass of wine and even a delicious dessert. It’s relaxed, educational in the best way, and focuses on good food shared in good company.
The Essentials
Run by Experts
