The coffee at Hixon Green is sourced from London based roaster, Grind. This crowdfunding startup works with a team of boutique bean importers who are able to guarantee fair pay to farmers as well as investing into community improvement projects. Served nowhere else in Brighton, or the south coast, Hixon says the coffee ‘tastes like nothing we’ve tried anywhere else’.

To complement their exquisite coffee, Hixon pride themselves on only using organic milk, from happy cows at the Goodwood Home Farm in Chichester. The milk is non-homogenised, retains all of its good fat particles and makes your flat white drinking experience extra special. We’re talking rich and creamy perfectly paired with a slice of homemade cake. If milk is not your thing then also on offer is a full range of dairy-free alternatives, including Oatly Barista, specially formulated for a frothy coffee without the moo!

In keeping with the New York proclivity to customise anything on a menu (“I’ll have the ham on rye, but hold the rye and make is sourdough”), Hixon Green boasts a pick ‘n’ mix style lunch, allowing you to build an entire meal from things you do fancy. Their current menu has over 100 different combinations ensuring each visit never resembles the last.

Keeping it local and fresh, menus change regularly at Hixon Green. Whether that be a single ingredient on one plate or whole dish changes, the chef works with what is in season and available. Food is always cooked to order and dishes can be adapted to suit dietary requirements. Nothing is too much to ask here.
