Why you’ll like Curio Café Bar
At the beating heart of Preston Circus, you’ll find Curio Café Bar, a casual and relaxed neighbourhood cafe serving up great food and drink day and night. With roots firmly in the local community, their ethos is simplicity at its finest. By day, drop in for a nourishing breakfast, morning coffee, epic sandwiches or leisurely lunch. By night expect small plates, good wine, good chat and good music. Curio curates thematic nights from supper clubs, guest DJ’s, wine tasting and more. They offer great value with regular deals from ‘Street Lottery’ where you can get 20% off simply by living here, to ‘Last Drop’ where you can pop along and help finish those last drops of wine before introducing the new. Little touches like these, alongside a solid service make Curio Cafe Bar an absolute gem.
The Food
The food offerings at Curio Cafe Bar are simple to explain from day to night – seasonal and using the best quality local ingredients. By day brilliant breakfast dishes and pastries are on offer with sensational sandwiches, grilled cheese and a selection of snacks. Find signature sesame buns filled with breakfast faves and a secret sauce. Sandwiches made fresh to order from 10am – from their famous Salt Beef and Pickles, to Brighton Smoked Salmon are a couple of the firm favourites. Their Grilled Cheese is far from standard, triple up the cheese and add a mac sauce, it’s almost impossible not to order.
By night, British Charcuterie is king at Curio – Rebel Aged Ham, Saucisson, Brighton Salami, and Coppa from Curing Rebels are a must for the meat lovers, but there are plenty more meat free marvels to go round. Cheddar Croquettes, Crispy Fried Artichoke and Smoked Fava Bean Hummus are just some of the nourishing small plates of delight. Regular supper clubs are hosted so keep a firm eye on the socials to see what’s coming up.
The Drinks
Curio Cafe Bar is on top of their game when it comes to drinks. Knockout coffee supplied by local roaster Milk Shed and expertly brewed into flat whites, long blacks, cortados, iced coffee and more. Teas, matchas and soda with some incredible low/no alcohol drinks make up an inclusive selection of softs.
For those who like a tipple, you’re in for a treat, Curio Cafe Bar is owned by Curio Wine, a champion of kegged wine who bring barrels of the great stuff for your pleasure. Wine on tap is a fresher, more consistent sustainable wine offering by the glass or carafe. The joy of this is making wine accessible to all, allowing you to try different varieties without committing to a bottle. Laid back wine tastings are hosted by owner Paul on the first Thursday of the month. Here you can deep dive into what’s on tap or just simply taste. You can even fill up a reusable container of your favourite wine to take home – any time. Alongside great wines, there is draught beer Lost & Grounded and a well thought out variety of bottles and cans. Cocktails, sustainably made and pack a punch are also pride of place on this terrific drinks list.

The idea is simple. Bring together expertly sourced wine, British charcuterie, artisan baked goods, and top-quality coffee in one welcoming space. RB loves the bridge between day and night, whatever time you visit, you’re met with a warm welcome and some great food and drink. The perfect afternoon is a mooch round the Open Market followed by a huge sandwich and long black at Curio Cafe Bar before heading into a matinee at neighbouring Duke of Yorks, Britain’s oldest and cutest cinema.
