Best Wine List Brighton

Wine lovers are a passionate lot and there’s no shortage of you wanting to vote on the Best Wine List Brighton offers. Diners in Brighton want to know all about the wine they’re drinking; who made it, how it was made, the type of grapes, the terroir. A well-curated wine list is a thing of beauty; a collection of short stories and a tour of the globe as well as an opportunity to share expert knowledge and unfettered enthusiasm. The very best will show consideration and sensitivity to diners while also reserving the right to surprise and delight.

Unsurprisingly, many BRAVOS Best Wine List venues champion Sussex vineyards, especially the top-quality Sussex Sparkling made right here on our doorstep. Some fine dining restaurants offer amazing wine-flights to accompany gastronomic tasting menus while others offer a more straightforward pleasure – to pop in for a single glass of something really very good.

And the winner of the BRAVO for Best Wine List goes to – Fourth and Church. Huge congratulations to the team.

First place

It will come as no surprise to the city’s connoisseurs that Fourth and Church has won the Best Wine List category again in 2024. The shelves of this vibrant Hove restaurant and wine shop are stacked deep with exciting bottles of wonderful wine, many of which are available by the glass. The team is passionate, highly knowledgeable and happy to make the time to help customers choose well. Carefully fostering relationships over years, Fourth and Church works with an extraordinary network of winemakers from around the world, favouring people who care about their vines and the quality of their produce. When you visit, pair some amazing wine with delicious, seasonal dishes from the deeply accomplished kitchen or you will certainly be missing out.

Fourth and Church has also placed in the Best Lunch category.

Second place

The wine list at English’s of Brighton deserves a big BRAVO. With over 100 wines from around the world, it has grown and developed to meet the UK’s changing palate and growing interest in wine. English’s of Brighton maintains personal relationships with many of the wine makers they work with, giving the list a special touch and it continues to change seasonally with an eye on the menu. The classic fish and seafood dishes practically cry out for a delicious glass or two. There are many great wines available by the glass and English’s sommelier and knowledgeable team are always on hand with helpful recommendations. English’s of Brighton also has a partnership with award-winning Rathfinny Wine Estate – producers of Sussex Sparkling. A match made in heaven.

English’s of Brighton has also placed in the Best Restaurant and Best Team categories.

Third place

This ever popular and ultra cool restaurant and bar in The Lanes offers a unique and expertly selected list of natural wines. The carefully considered list offers wines chosen to compliment Plateau’s menu of extremely appetising small plates which are made using the freshest seasonal produce from Sussex. There are also plenty of wines which you can happily drink without food, taking your time to explore the delicious and unusual flavours only natural wine can deliver. There’s really nowhere else like Plateau in the city – originality and quality – a winning combination.
