First place
Facing Hove’s historic Palmeira Square, Nostos is the local home of modern Greek gastronomy. Both the menu and ethos nod to the home flavours and culture of Nostos’s Greek owner and excellent chef, who seek to bring traditional Greek dishes up-to-date. The light-filled dining room is both comfortable and contemporary to match. With a commitment to local produce and sustainability, Nostos offers a wide selection of flavoursome vegetarian dishes including an excellent vegan moussaka. There are also plates of crispy calamari, fresh fish of the day, grilled lamb cutlets and succulent chicken souvlaki to enjoy. Children are always made very welcome and the kid’s menu is a real treat. The flavours at Nostos are bright and fresh. A holiday in Hove!
Nostos has also placed in the Best For The Family, Best Restaurant and Best Team categories.
Second place
Wabi Sabi Hove serves the best classic and contemporary Japanese cuisine in the heart of Hove. Their quirky and colourful restaurant is an artful juxtaposition of traditional Japanese tea house meets modern neon Tokyo; a fun celebration of the diverse Japanese food culture. Wabi Sabi’s menu is extensive and accessible, filled with flavoursome traditional ramen, complex and warming donburi and plenty of small sharing plates. Sushi is expertly made by the restaurant’s sushi-master chef, who created plates of stunning, edible art. Kids are welcomed with their very own menu and teddy bear chopstick holders, allowing even the littlest hands to enjoy a delicious Japanese feast. A welcoming, delicious, authentic Japanese dining experience; Wabi Sabi offers some of the very Best International Cuisine in the city.
Wabi Sabi has also placed in the Best For The Family Category.
Third place
Inspired by the wonderful flavours of the French and Italian riviera, Il Bistro, founded in 1976, was one of the first restaurants to bring Mediterranean-style cuisine to the city. The restaurant’s commitment to serving authentic, fresh delicious dishes using local suppliers and produce hasn’t waned over the years, winning Il Bistro #3 on the BRAVO Best International Cuisine list. Brighton’s first (and perhaps only!) Mediterranean steakhouse, Il Bistro specialises in the best dry-aged British beef as well as delicious treats like fresh pasta, arancini, grilled fish and more.
The homemade desserts have a summer holiday vibe with profiteroles and affogato making a welcome appearance. Italian wines happily dominate the wine list.
Il Bistro has also placed in the Best Team and Best Restaurant categories.
