Best Lunch Brighton is a new BRAVO category for 2024 and we’re so excited about it. While some might feel that lunch is dinner’s straight little sister, we reckon it’s the meal that delivers the most bang-for-your-buck.
Across the city, fabulous restaurants, pubs and cafes are delivering time after time with delicious dishes, set menus and great offers. As a meal, lunch is a real chameleon changing to meet your needs; from quick but delicious, grab-n-go work lunch to an opportunity to impress clients, a stolen moment with a loved one or a cosy Sunday roast to a long, luxurious daytime celebration with nothing planned for after. Our BRAVO winners list means, whatever kind of lunch you’re after, you know it’s going to be great.
And the BRAVO for Best Lunch goes to – Lost In The Lanes. Huge congratulations to the team.
First place
The gloriously-titled Lost In The Lanes is a friendly, chef-led restaurant with short seasonal menus showcasing the best local produce and the Best Lunch in town. The mouth-watering, modern European menu offers snacks, sides and small plates, larger mains and delicious cakes. You can pop in and share with friends or indulge in a three course lunch if you’ve got the time. Plump Greek olives, fresh Rosemary focaccia, and crispy black truffle potatoes are served alongside grilled and slow cooked meats, fresh fish and flavoursome vegan dishes. The expertly crafted coffees are not to be missed and the drinks menu has been carefully considered with great local wines a highlight. Relax in the gorgeous, warm, scandi-inspired dining room and allow the lovely Lost team to look after you.
Lost In The Lanes has also placed in the Best Cafe, Best Brunch and Best Team categories.
Second place
This brightly-painted cafe has been serving South Indian street food from its central Lanes location for a decade.
Popular with both the local crowd and visitors to the city, Curry Leaf Cafe has a modern, relaxed vibe ideal for lunch. There is a wide selection of authentically spiced curries and stews plus exciting sizzle platters on offer. The pavs (brioche buns) filled with battered chicken or mushroom with layers of zesty mayo or spicy sauces are an absolute lunchtime classic. Indulge in a craft beer from Curry Leaf Cafe’s unbeatable selection then take a stroll on the beach (if you don’t have to rush back to the office of course).
Curry Leaf Cafe has also placed in the Best Vegan Food, Best International Cuisine and Best For The Family categories.
Third place
From its home in the heart of Kemptown Village, Nanima Asian Kitchen and Cafe serves fresh, delicious lunches to hungry diners. Family-run and deeply friendly, this lunch hot spot offers a daily-changing pan-Asian menu served canteen-style. With ultimate flexibility, diners have the option to build their perfect lunch, adding sides and sauces as they go. There are always meat and vegetarian options plus rice and noodles to choose from. Asian-inspired (banh mi) sandwiches go quickly so arrive early if you’re after one of these. And if Laksa is on the menu – just go for it. You will not regret it.
