Why we love The Cleveland Arms Brighton
From real old school boozer to fine dining gastro pub, Brighton is full of fantastic free houses to explore. One of our favourites is The Cleveland Arms Brighton, overlooking the beautiful Blakers Park near Five Ways.
From the staff to the Sussex produce, here are a few of the reasons we love The Cleveland Arms Brighton so much.
The Cleveland Arms is an independent, family-run free house owned by hospitality veterans Jamie and Sarah. With over 30 combined years in the business, you are sure to be in safe hands where every last detail of your experience has been meticulously thought through with faultless attention to detail.
Some of the best breweries in the country have been popping up in our area of late, although not forgetting the long-standing favourites that have been around for centuries. Supporting local, all ales on the bar at The Cleveland Arms are Sussex produced making that pint all the more satisfying.
The Cleveland Arms prides itself on the quality of the food served to their customers. Home-made, seven days a week, the menu is prepared in house using ingredients from local suppliers, showcasing the produce the South East has to offer. Meat from Barfields Butchers provides delicious options for carnivores, while locally sourced fruit and veg mean vegetarians and vegans have plenty to choose from as well.
Overlooking what some might call a hidden gem amongst Brighton’s parks, Blakers Park is directly opposite The Cleveland Arms, providing a perfect view for thirsty sunseekers. Smart wooden benches adorn the front of the pub and it’s quiet, residential setting provides a tranquil end to any busy day.
A warm welcome is up there on most people’s wish list when describing a perfect pub experience. A friendly smile, knowledgeable but not overbearing, that kind of thing… The staff at The Cleveland Arms greet guests like friends, treating the pub as their own and providing service that they would like to receive. The golden rule of hospitality is nailed here…
Both the interior and exterior of The Cleveland Arms have undergone recent refurbishment, leaving guests to enjoy a stylish yet cosy feel inside and a polished and smart outside terrace. During the winter, the promise of an open fire is enough to lure you in for miles away and the suntrap patio is a must visit during those longer days.
Finding somewhere the whole family can enjoy can be a tough gig. Granny likes no music, the kids will only eat sausage and chips, the dog needs a bit more room than some venues can provide… Fear not, The Cleveland Arms cater for the many, with plenty of choices, space and friendly faces available.
