Sora at Malmaison: Sushi, Sunsets and Marina Views

When my sushi-loving friends and I were invited down to Brighton Marina for an early look at Sora, Malmaison’s Japanese dining experience, we suspected it might be something special. A few cocktails, a feast of sushi and a sunset later, and we were already planning a return visit with the rest of our ladies!

Now open at Brighton Marina, Sora combines beautifully crafted Japanese dishes, exceptional service and one of the most enviable waterfront settings in the city.

A New Arrival at Brighton Marina

Sora blends sleek modern interiors with Brighton’s relaxed coastal atmosphere, creating an ideal setting for sun soaked catch ups, intimate date nights, work lunches and those summer evenings that begin with cocktails and somehow end several hours later.

The terrace is a total suntrap, Costa del Brighton energy, with marina views, sunsoaked seating, ideal for whiling away the day watching boats drift by below. It’s the kind of spot that makes you feel as though you’ve escaped on holiday, without ever leaving Sussex.

Sushi, Sashimi and Robatayaki

The food is deliciously elevated and beautifully presented – every plate arriving at the table felt like a little edible work of art. Sora’s talented sushi chefs serve everything from delicate tuna nigiri and buttery kingfish sashimi to signature rolls including the Green Dragon and Fire Cracker Maki. Each dish balances precision and creativity, with fresh flavours and striking presentation throughout.

Not into raw fish, not to worry,  their robatayaki grill delivers bold, satisfying flavours through dishes such as sticky pork belly, crispy chicken skewers and moreish charred edamame. Whether you’re a sushi purist or looking for something heartier, there’s plenty to explore.

Save Room for Dessert

Dessert deserves its own moment. We finished with pillowy soft mochi, delicate rice flour wrapped around cool ice cream centres. Light, refreshing and almost too pretty to eat, it was the perfect ending to a meal that had already impressed from start to finish.

A Taste of Summer by the Sea

Whether you’re stopping by for sushi and cocktails in the sunshine or settling in for a full evening feast overlooking the marina, Sora brings a sophisticated slice of Japanese dining to Brighton’s waterfront.

Now open and ready for summer, Sora feels like a standout addition to Brighton Marina’s food scene. It’s well worth adding to your summer dining plans.
