Pho Brighton

Pho brings the comforting, aromatic flavours of Vietnam to the heart of Brighton, occupying a bright and buzzing spot on Black Lion Street in the Lanes. Since arriving in the city, this popular Vietnamese restaurant has become a firm favourite for anyone craving a steaming bowl of pho, fragrant broths and fresh, herb laden dishes that celebrate the best of Vietnamese cooking.

Why you will like Pho

Vietnamese food is built around balance, and Pho captures that beautifully. Broths are simmered for hours to develop real depth, then finished with fresh herbs, chilli and lime for a dish that feels both nourishing and vibrant. The restaurant itself has a relaxed, contemporary feel, making it just as suited to a quick lunch as a longer evening meal with friends. Whether the goal is something warming on a cold day or a lighter, healthier option while out exploring the Lanes, Pho consistently delivers.

What to order at Pho Brighton

The chicken pho is a wonderful place to start, tender chicken breast in a fragrant, slow simmered broth topped with fresh herbs and bean sprouts. For something richer, the beef pho remains the dish this restaurant is best known for, a deeply savoury broth paired with silky rice noodles. The spring rolls, crisp and served with lettuce and herbs for wrapping and dipping, make an excellent starter, while the prawn curry, a fragrant Vietnamese curry with vegetables and mushrooms served alongside broken rice and king prawns, is well worth trying for something a little different from the classic noodle soup.

New to Vietnamese and so didn’t know what to expect. Courteous welcome, nice central seating position, reasonable choice of drinks. Great starters, I had the pork rolls – delicious. Main course, the King Prawn curry, equally delicious but my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Wonderful, attentive staff to guide us through the menu without being overbearing. Only issue that robbed this review of five stars was the noise. We were a table of eight – four either side – and could only hear the person sat directly next to us. We couldn’t even hear the music. Great if you’re young and like noisy, atmospheric dining but for us oldies it was a little too frenetic.

Had a great take away from this branch. Food was perfect and highly recommend their summer rolls. Staff were great. In particular Libby Andrews from head office who arranged this take away for us. Great experience with Pho and highly recommend.

We’re enjoying our restaurant takeaways/deliveries even more than usual as we can’t actually go to a restaurant at the moment! Our food from Pho was excellent and just as good as if we were there for real. Still hot and delicious and a big hit for the whole family. Only downside is not being able to have a Vietnamese coffee to finish the meal!

Had high hopes from the menu but not great. The staters were really good but it stopped there. It was far too loud, and they wouldn’t turn down the music. We were a large group and one person didn’t receive their food. I ordered the hot and spicy chicken pho and it was not spicy at all and have very little veg in it.
