With the Christmas decorations safely back in the loft and the New Year hangover just about cleared up it is back to business as usual for most people. Here at Restaurants Brighton we are planning for 2018. Last year was a superb year for Brighton and Sussex food, and we loved being a part of such a memorable 12 months in the city. As great as it was, we’re ready for 2018 and wanted to share with you what we are cooking up so far.

Restaurants Brighton Rewards

Last year we launched Restaurants Brighton rewards giving you the chance to enjoy Brighton’s top eateries at a fraction of their usual cost. We loved giving you the opportunity to sample the best of Brighton for less, and so are bringing this back in 2018. The first opportunity to take advantage of these superb deals starts on the 15th January and runs until the end of February. We wanted to make the start of the year a little brighter. Be sure to head over to the rewards page to see the offers that are available and start booking your tables now. You can thank us later.

BRAVO Awards

Last year we launched the BRAVO awards, the city’s only food awards that rely 100% on public votes. We were blown away by the response. Over 24,000 votes were cast across the 16 categories, which covered everything from the “Best Restaurant” through to “Best Bites on a Budget”. The diversity of our categories reflected the variety of eateries that you will find in Brighton and across Sussex. Voting re-opens in January and we will be letting you all know when you can vote via social media channels so keep an eye out. We cannot wait to see how the voting goes this year. Submit your votes for the restaurants, cafés, pubs and venues you think deserve recognition for their efforts last year.

2017 in Review

In case you need some help jogging your memory for your BRAVO votes, our 2017 review feature covers all the big moments of a superb year. We look back at all the new openings, awards and achievements that took place throughout the year. It was certainly one to remember and just looking back over the year makes us excited about what this one will bring. Come take a trip down memory lane with us here.

Food Trends

We are not the only ones thinking about what 2018 may bring. We asked some of the city’s top young chefs what they thought would be big in 2018. These are the people who are making the future so they should know. We also asked some wine experts what they thought we would be drinking this year; because drinks are just as important as food when it comes to a top night out. Whilst these experts may not have a crystal ball, their insight into the food and drink industry is as close as we can get and is much more reliable than Mystic Meg.

Pop Up Restaurants

Pop ups are not a new thing, and Brighton is a city that loves these one-off or short-lived events. Many of the city’s best restaurants started life as a pop up. Chef’s often hone their skills and perfect menus at these events, providing a platform to raise their profile and build a following. Whilst pop up restaurants and supper clubs have been with us for some time, we think 2018 will see these events take centre stage. With such an emphasis on the pop up scene, we have featured our pick of the current crop to keep an eye out for. These range from fine dining specialists through to home-cooked delights in a Brighton home. These are just a sample of what will be available throughout the year. Many more are sure to…well pop up during the year. Make 2018 the year you try pop up restaurants; you may be one of the first to discover a new food phenomenon and potential Brighton restaurant.
