The Pond Pub – Gloucester Road
The Pond Brighton in the North Laine is a cool independent pub that’s made quite a splash with its superb selection of craft beers and tasty food. The pub sells its own brilliantly-named Pondwater Pale Ale alongside a solid range of interesting, innovative craft beers with a great selection on tap.

Baby Bao
Food is curated by Street Diner, with Baby Bao currently resident in the kitchen, serving delectable small plates of Asian food and fluffy steamed Bao buns with tasty meat, fish, veggie and vegan fillings. Flavour-seeking diners and critics alike have been raving about the cuisine, giving Baby Bao high praise across social media for the small plates and buns, which are priced at a reasonable £5 each.

Meet free Mondays at The Pond Brighton
Fillings include the “classic pork” with free range pork belly, hoisin sauce, peanuts, spring onion and cucumber (also available with tofu instead of pork), and fried chicken (or panko-coated squash) with miso mayo, pineapple relish, gem lettuce, sriracha hot sauce and coriander. On Mondays the menu is always entirely meat free.

Opening hours are generous: the pub is open midday to midnight seven days a week and the kitchen until 9pm Monday to Saturday, 6pm on a Sunday, giving everyone ample time to hotfoot there for a visit while the steamed buns are still hot!
