BRAVO award winners for

Plant Champions

Plant Champions

Brighton is right at the forefront of the renaissance of plant-based gastronomy boasting an extraordinary embarrassment of riches in this category; from genre-defining establishments to exciting new ventures.

And the winner of the BRAVO for Plant Champions goes to – Bonsai Plant Kitchen. Huge congratulations to the team.

First place

Bonsai Plant Kitchen

The team at Bonsai Plant Kitchen have been on a mission to show us all the endless possibilities for creating delicious plant-based dishes. And it seems like they’ve done it. BRAVO – Bonsai Plant Kitchen –  take a bow. The food at this thrilling South East Asian inspired restaurant is as fresh as it comes, both in terms of produce and attitude. The menu is constantly evolving in step with the seasons; and their food is 100% plant- based, nut free and cooked over Japanese coals. Vibrant cocktails are served in pleasingly enormous goblets. They’ve also placed #2 in the Best Restaurant category. A relative newcomer to the Brighton food scene, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this fabulous place. Book immediately. Located on Baker Street close to Brighton Open Market.

Second place

As popular as ever, Terre à Terre was the first plant-led fine dining restaurant to open in Sussex and celebrates its 30th birthday later this year with a brand new head chef in the kitchen. In many ways, Terre à Terre defines this BRAVO category, producing deliciously elevated plant-led dishes, with a constant eye on sustainability and ethical hospitality. The cocktail list is a delight and they stock a fabulous selection of low / no sulphur, organic, and biodynamic wines. Don’t miss their fabulous afternoon tea. This winning combination has also earned them #3 in the Best Restaurant category and legendary status.

Third place

If you’ve not yet been to Smorls in Brighton’s Open Market, we politely suggest you make the trip. Everything on the menu is 100% plant-based and 100% delicious. With a recipe perfected over 25 years, Smorl’s hand made hummus is the star of the show. It’s served alongside falafel, pitta, layers of fresh, crunchy salad and tasty pickles in stunningly good combinations. And do try their moreish ‘dirty dauphinois dippers’. It’s great to see Smorl’s in the top three of the BRAVO’s Plant Champions category – simple food brilliantly executed.
