Best Sunday Roast – Top 20 Places to enjoy a Sunday Roast

The debate rages on: where can you find the best Sunday Roast Brighton has to offer? Insider tips are whispered, passionate reviews are shared, and when word spreads of a top-tier roast, locals travel far and wide to get their fix.

From the crispy golden roasties and towering Yorkshire puddings to rich, flavourful gravies and indulgent desserts, Brighton and Hove pubs and restaurants work tirelessly to serve up the ultimate Sunday feast.

Congratulations to this year’s BRAVO winner – Embers – and to all the fantastic venues shortlisted in 2025. Now start dreaming of long, lazy Sundays and unbeatable roasts!

First place

Think you’ll find the Best Roast in a pub? Think again. This year’s Best Roast winner is a seriously foodie restaurant with a team of passionate professionals behind it! The Embers ethos is ‘Fire and Friendship’: food to share cooked over open wood fire and innovative cocktails alongside. Sundays follow the same delicious logic – but ‘roastified’, featuring mouthwatering platters of meat or veg mains, skillet potatoes, cauli-purée, tempting snacks, decadent desserts, and those cocktails to match. Embers is roastie royalty.

Embers also won #3 Best Restaurant #9 Best Team #10 Sustainability Champion

Second place

The roast at Ladies Mile is just like the pub itself – so hearty and crowd-pleasing you’ll keep coming back for more. Their traditional roast comes with a generous array of tasty sides like cauli-cheese, garlic roasties, homemade Yorkshire pudding, and signature gravy that ties everything together deliciously. Family-friendly to a fault, it’s a Sunday outing the kids will just love. Just make sure you leave a little space for pudding, sweetie!

Ladies Mile also won #2 Most Family Friendly #3 Best Brighton and Hove Pub #13 Best Team

THIRD place

Windmill

At Alberta’s, “fast food needn’t be trash” – or really that fast either! You’ll want to spend the entire afternoon savouring the fabulous roast and relaxed vibe at The Windmill starting with some southern-style snacks. Serving Brighton’s only ‘whole fry’ (an entire fried chicken) and a host of other delicious mains, all roasts come with maple-glazed roots, tatties, yorkies, herby greens, and gravy. Too darn good! It’s Viennetta affogato and Sticky Toffee –  skip dessert and we’ll lose all respect for you!

The Windmill also won #4 Best Brighton and Hove Pub

FOURTH PLACE

Gothic glory The Farm Tavern specialises in Eastern European small plates, but its Sunday roast remains deliciously traditional – bar a few tasty twists like sliced kielbasa in your cauli-cheese. Choose your roast meat or flavour-packed veggie option, with all the trimmings and irresistible extras like piggies in blankets. Then it’s sticky toffee pudding or a slice of Polish baked apple cake to finish with vanilla, butterscotch cream – we’re sold! The Bloody Marys are legendary.

FIFTH place

Find one of the city’s most indulgent Sunday roasts inside one of its most iconic buildings. The roast at Cyan, The Grand’s resident restaurant, is exactly what you’d expect – excellent, generous and fittingly luxurious. Choose from meat, fish or vegetarian options accompanied by every side under the sun. Round things off with seriously decadent desserts while gazing at the epic views. This is definitely one to take your time over.
