Best Pubs in Sussex

Surrounded by the rolling Sussex countryside, Brightonians can easily escape the city bustle with just a short journey. Which Sussex Venue did the public choose as their 2017 best pubs in Sussex? And, more importantly, who won the accolade in 2018?

1. The Ginger Fox

Part of the hugely successful Ginger Group, the Ginger Fox is located in the picturesque South Downs countryside just 7 miles outside of Brighton. Their menu is focused around local, seasonal produce and they are pleased to serve a great variety of wines from award-winning local winery, Ridgeview. A fantastic spot for a Sunday lunch or a cosy dinner.

2. Shepherd & Dog

The Shepherd and Dog aren’t too far from The Ginger Fox, also located within the South Downs in the tiny village of Fulking. Owner, David is passionate about English heritage and provenance of the ingredients on their menu and the venue has recently had a lovely conversion to add extra seating which opens up to the huge pub garden. There’s always something interesting going on, with the pub holding regular beer and gin festivals.

3. Perch on Lancing Beach

Perch appears once again – this time taking the third spot on your favourite Sussex venue list! It’s a real find; seafront views, modern interior and a well thought out menu – a destination perfect for a lazy afternoon in the sun. They run a popular steak night on a Tuesday, as well as an online booking system to ensure you and your family can grab a seat at this busy venue.
