Things to do in Brighton this April – The Scoop

Is any month more eagerly anticipated than April? Nature bursts back to life, the days stretch out, and we dare to hope for a little real sunshine. We’re longing for the first tastes of new-season asparagus, feasting on spring lamb and local crab at Easter – and maybe a little silky smooth chocolate too. It’s easy to feel blessed.

1. Sushi Aisu!

New York’s cult gelato brand Sushi Aisu (@sushiaisu.uk) is opening its first UK store in Brighton’s Lanes this April – a testament to our amazing local food scene. Inspired by sweet and savoury Japanese flavours, expect tuna tartare with toasted sesame crunch or avocado-edamame with a ginger twist. Cones come in plain rice or wasabi, finished with a dark chocolate rim.

2. BRAVOS 2025 Announcement Day

The wait is nearly over! On April 3rd, we reveal the winners of the biggest BRAVOS yet and publish the Top 20 in all 18 categories.

Brighton’s taco obsession is heating up. Missed Curio’s Taco Night in March? Head to Taco Club at Pearly Cow – two tacos and a Margarita for £15 every Thursday, 4–6:30pm. Or make your own at Brighton Cookery School on April 28. Don’t sleep on Halisco and Slam Tacos – both serious contenders for taco supremacy.

4. Jog On

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Brighton loves food and fitness. It’s not a contradiction – it’s a lifestyle. On Sunday 6 April, the city makes way for the Brighton Marathon, the South Coast’s biggest running event. Book your post-run table early – The Salt Room is offering free fizz for finishers. The kids are off for the first half of the month and in serious need of fresh air and sunshine. Woodfire Camping is back for spring break, with Green Michelin Star winner Ivan Tisdall-Downes onsite – developing sustainable practices, bringing fresh flavours, and teaching the camp chefs new tricks. Grown-ups, book the April Bundle: sauna, dinner, and camping for just £45. Kids come along for the fun!

6. Oeuf Hunt

What says spring more than a lovely egg – poached, scrambled, sunny-side-up… or chocolate? Great any day, award-winning Oeuf Café is on everybody’s list, but for an indulgent holiday treat, book the Willy Wonka Special on 23rd April. Expect a magical breakfast twist with a themed FrumpetTM, and one lucky guest will find a Golden Ticket hidden beneath their plate – worth a £50 café voucher!

Since ‘one egg is never an Oeuf’ – try Moksha, Redroaster, Lost In The Lanes, Starfish & Coffee or Jo & Co for more.

7. Sensational Shoreline

Shoreline Café is the place to be this April – a hive of foodie activity by the sea. Don’t miss pop-ups from Podger’s (4 April), Crabshack (11 April), 39 Pizza (26 April), and the innovative Skint Supper Club (7 April). Next door at The Shoreline Store, explore the intriguing Organic Alchemist Workshop (6 April) or sip your way through a Brighton Wines tasting (10 April).

9. The Long Weekend

Is Brighton the spiritual home of the long weekend? We think so. From Good Friday (18 April) to Bank Holiday Monday (21 April), the city will be buzzing with life. Dining in? Try ‘Make Your Own Easter Bakes’ at Brighton Cookery School. Heading out? Banquet buffet-style at 1890 at The Met or book early to dine at one of the Best Brighton or Sussex Pubs.

10. Earth day

Earth Day (22 April) is a moment to reflect on our beautiful planet. We’re proud of our Sustainable Restaurant Guide, created with the University of Brighton, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. This season, get outside, go for a walk, grow something for National Gardening Week (28 April – 4 May), buy local produce, forage, and finally dine alfresco again.
